FAQ
Can I run Documenso on my own infrastructure?
Yes. The README lists Docker, Docker Compose, Railway, Kubernetes, and manual deployment as supported self-hosting methods.
Can I add signing to my own application?
Yes. The official docs describe a REST API, webhooks, and embedding. API integration starts with obtaining an API key.
Does the developer quickstart send email to real inboxes?
It captures outgoing email locally in Inbucket. Open http://localhost:9000 to view those messages.
Will document reminders work with the default local job provider?
No. The manual setup guide says the default local job provider does not support the scheduled jobs required for document reminders.
Do the supplied sources establish legal validity in Pakistan?
No. The docs mention guidance on ESIGN, UETA, eIDAS, GDPR, and signature levels, but the supplied sources do not establish Pakistan-specific legal validity.
Troubleshooting
Developer quickstart emails do not arrive in an inbox.
Open Inbucket at http://localhost:9000. Development emails are stored locally; its SMTP port is localhost:2500.
Package scripts cannot access environment variables.
Use npm run with:env -- npm run myscript or npm run with:env -- npx myscript. These wrappers load variables from .env and .env.local.
Document reminders do not run in the default local setup.
The default local job provider does not support scheduled jobs. Configure an appropriate job provider; see the official docs.
A self-hosted deployment does not start.
Check logs, configured ports, and software versions; see the official docs, including the troubleshooting and common-pitfalls guides.
